Travel photos, family moments, children, weddings, or simply the details you want to preserve don't have to stay hidden in your phone gallery. A carefully arranged set of photos can become one of the most personal details in your home.
But when we start arranging multiple photos on a single wall, questions quickly arise: how many pictures should I use, which layout should I choose, do all photos need to be the same size, which frame best suits the space, and should I use a mount (passe-partout)?
A good wall gallery doesn't have to be complicated. If you choose the layout first, then the style of the frame, and finally how the photo is displayed within it, it is much easier to achieve a harmonious whole.

1. First, choose the photo layout
The layout largely determines how the entire gallery will look on the wall. It makes a difference whether you want a few photos in a neat line above a dresser or a larger gallery intended to be the central feature of the living room.
Canvas Studio currently offers several pre-prepared compositions — from a set of two or three photos to larger galleries. Among them are Linear Trio, Dynamic Trio, Sweet Dreams, Daily Essay, and Golden Moments.
Linear layout
If you want a calm and tidy look, photos of equal or similar size placed in a single line are usually the safest choice.
This layout works particularly well above a dresser, above a sofa, in a hallway, on a long empty wall. Also, you can use it in the dining room.
Dynamic layout
A combination of different dimensions gives the wall a bit more character. A larger photo can be the main focus, while smaller photos complement it. This is a good choice if you have one photo among them that is particularly important to you.
Larger wall gallery
If you have larger photos from a trip, a family photo shoot, or want to create a kind of story on the wall, a larger set offers many more possibilities.
With such compositions, it is good to combine portraits, details, landscapes, wide shots. Not every photo has to show the same thing. It is much more interesting when they create a story together.
2. Canvas or frame? The choice of frame changes the character of the entire wall
After the layout, the production method selection follows. With the Canvas Studio set, it is possible to choose canvas, a black frame, a white frame, or an oak-effect frame. Each of them gives the same photo a completely different character.
Canvas — simple and modern. In the canvas variant, the photo is printed on canvas and stretched over a wooden frame. There is no additional outer frame, which makes the result look simple and modern. Canvas is a good choice when you want the photo itself to be dominant. It works particularly well with family photos, children's photos, landscapes, travel photos.
Black frame — stronger contrast. The black frame clearly separates the photo from the wall and gives the gallery a slightly more serious, graphic character. It works great in modern spaces, especially against white and light gray walls. If the photos contain many bright tones, a black frame can further emphasize their contrast.
White frame — calm and unobtrusive. A white frame is a good choice when you don't want the frame itself to attract much attention. It looks especially beautiful on light-colored walls and in Scandinavian interiors, where the photos almost become part of the wall.
Oak — warmer and more natural look. The wood decor connects the photos with natural materials in the interior. It fits well with wooden furniture, parquet, beige tones, and warmer Scandinavian spaces. If you want the wall gallery to look less formal and more like a part of your home, this is a very rewarding option.
The best way for the user to choose
Here I would definitely use the exact same photo in all four examples. This is very important. If we change both the photo and the frame, the user is actually comparing four different designs. If we keep the same photo, they immediately see only the difference:
Canvas → Black → White → Oak.
3. What is a mount (passe-partout) and when to use it?
A mount is the space between the photo and the frame itself. Its purpose is not just decorative. It gives the photo more room to "breathe" and can give the whole image a much more gallery-like appearance.
With the Canvas Studio set, the mount is only selected for photos with a frame — it is not available with the canvas variant.
You can choose the display: no border → small → medium → deep mount.
No mount — The photo takes up almost the entire surface inside the frame. This is a good choice when you want a stronger visual effect or have a photo with many details.
Small mount — Discreetly separates the photo from the frame, but it still remains dominant. This is probably the most versatile option.
Medium mount — Gives the photo a more pronounced gallery character. It works particularly well with portraits, minimalist photos, and black-and-white photographs.
Deep mount — A large white area around the photo makes the photo itself smaller but gives it much more visual space. This kind of display can look very elegant in a minimalist interior.
4. How to choose photos for a wall set?
You don't have to use only professionally taken photos. A wall gallery often looks more interesting when it combines different moments from life.
For example, a family set can contain one group photo, a portrait of a child, a travel photo, a detail, a landscape of a place that means something to you.
The most important thing is that the photos have some connection between them. This can be the same theme, a period in life, or simply a similar atmosphere and color palette. If you are creating a larger gallery, don't try to make every picture the main one. One or two can be dominant, while the rest serve as visual support.
